The Department of Political Sciences was established in January 2025 at the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. The Department is headed by Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine Ivan Serhiyovych Monolatiy.
The Department includes professors: Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Political Sciences of Ukraine Klimonchuk V.Y., Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Political Science, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Marchuk V.V., Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine Derevyanko S.M. and candidates of sciences, associate professors: Berezovska-Chmil O.B., Genyk M.A., Dotsyak I.I., Kobets Y.V., Lipchuk O.I., Lomaka I.I., Madryga T.B., Matvienkiv. S.M., Mishchuk M.B., Moskalyuk M.F.
The department provides training for specialists in the specialty 052 Political Science, field of knowledge 05 Social and Behavioral Sciences through the implementation of the following educational programs: educational and professional program “Political Science” of the first (bachelor’s) level, educational and professional program “Political Science. National Security” of the first (bachelor’s) level for higher education students, educational and professional program “Political Science” for higher education students of the second (master’s) level, educational and professional program “Political Management in the Sphere of National Security” for higher education students of the second (master’s) level, educational and scientific program “Political Science” for higher education students of the third educational and scientific level of higher education.
The departments of scientific and pedagogical workers provide teaching of political academic disciplines: history of normative and legal thought of Ukraine, history of foreign political doctrines, foreign policy of foreign countries, ethnopolitical science, elections and electoral systems, political elites and leadership, theory of political systems, methodology of political sciences, etc., as well as a number of disciplines chosen by applicants for higher education of all levels. The teachers are actively engaged in educational and methodological work, constantly work on improving the forms and methods of training applicants and introduce innovative approaches to the educational process. The department provides educational training for postgraduate students and defense of dissertation research for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
The results of scientific research of the teachers and applicants of the department are widely published in professional scientific publications of Ukraine and publications indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science, tested at numerous scientific conferences. The Department of Final Preparation and Publication of Final Editions of “Bulletin of the Precarpathian National University. Series: Political Science” and “POLITIA. Bulletin of Scientific Works of Young Scientists”, collective monographs.
The teachers of the Department of Political Science pay significant attention to professional and educational work with students studying in the specialty “Political Science”. They are active in student self-government bodies, in the public life of the faculty, university, city, region and Ukraine.
